Wymac Capital did not wait for the industry to invent digital mortgage tools. Through technology owned by Sourcetec, Inc. and licensed to Wymac, our team has spent decades building systems that help borrowers time refinances and help licensed financial professionals originate home loans for their own clients.
That work lives today in RateAnalyzer and Cypher. RateAnalyzer watches existing mortgages against the market so clients know when a refinance makes sense. Cypher helps independent financial professionals (CPAs, enrolled agents, planners, and others) serve mortgage clients without leaving their primary practice.
Built at Sourcetec, licensed to Wymac
Sourcetec, Inc. was founded in 1994 to create mortgage and financial-services technology that did not already exist in the marketplace. RateAnalyzer and Cypher are owned by Sourcetec and licensed to Wymac Capital. Wymac Capital is the mortgage brokerage, founded in 1990. The technology company behind these tools is Sourcetec.
RateAnalyzer
RateAnalyzer was created to solve a simple problem: clients refinance when rates and home values line up, not when someone remembers to check. The system tracks client rates, property values, and market conditions, and surfaces when a borrower may qualify for a lower rate with no points and no fees. Homeowners can still enroll for free alerts on Track My Rate.
Cypher
Cypher was built so licensed independent professionals could complete the work of mortgage origination for their own clients. The first deployments were with home builders. On January 1, 1999, California made it legal for CPAs to earn commission income, and the platform expanded to tax and advisory professionals who already knew their clients’ finances. Today Cypher Partners remain licensed mortgage loan originators with Wymac Capital.
Patented work the industry built on
The technology is covered by a family of six U.S. patents in mortgage and financial-services data processing, including U.S. Patent 7,315,841. The family’s priority date is July 22, 1998. The patents are now expired, which is normal for work of that age. The six patents are:
- U.S. Patent No. 7,315,841
- U.S. Patent No. 7,340,435
- U.S. Patent No. 7,386,504
- U.S. Patent No. 7,620,598
- U.S. Patent No. 7,761,372
- U.S. Patent No. 8,527,402
What still matters is influence: later patents across finance and mortgage technology cite this family hundreds of times, including patents assigned to Fannie Mae, Intuit, Wells Fargo, Ellie Mae (now part of Intercontinental Exchange, which also owns the New York Stock Exchange), Bank of America, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, USAA, GE Capital, and IBM, among others. Over the years the technology was presented to more than 200 lenders. Those citations are evidence that the industry moved in directions these inventions anticipated.
Still used every day
Cypher has been used by more than 600 independent financial professionals to place more than 15,000 home loans. RateAnalyzer continues to watch rates for homeowners who want a free alert when refinancing becomes worthwhile.
Continuity under current ownership
Russell McDonald, Wymac Capital’s licensed broker, has been with Wymac since 1991. He took ownership of the brokerage in 2020 and has led the company since. Under that leadership Wymac Capital was named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies in both 2021 and 2022.
